So I have a billion and one things to do (not least of all sleep) now that I can properly post and... do all sorts of online-y goodness, but, since I've already started the trend on facebook and twitter, I might as well continue on a good thing. This is brought to you because of a conversation I had with [info]midgarangel wherein the conversation turned to cosplay and the makeup that must go with it (...well, if you're going to cosplay someone as glee-worthy as Miwako anyway--who doesn't wanna be preeeeetty then? :D) wherein I gushed way, way, waaaay too much about Lime Crime's Magic Dust eyeshadow pigments.

And because I've since looked in my inbox and found Team Candyfuture-centric emails that got me thinking way too much about it all over again. Namely that now they come in double the magic which makes me ridiculously happy, and second, that they've released the new Candyfuture lipsticks.

They make me ridiculously happy. (If you want to look at the rest of the colors, you can find them on the site.) Not so much to go on myself, because heaven knows I don't know the first thing about putting color on my lips without looking like an ogre, but lipsticks of quality in wild colors that aren't from the dollar store and make you wonder just what kind of cancer you're catching? The future just got happier. (^_^)/ I'm loving that this happened just in time for Halloween.

...Which brings me to another question. Just what is there to do on that day now that we're too old and grizzled for candy-hunting anyway?

grumble grumble [28/4/2008 - 11:34pm]
My internets, they are not working. :(

...Well. They are. Kind of. I've got MSN. Just nothing browsable in either IE or Firefox. I had the sneaking suspicion it was because the firewall decided to block them again, but after trying to see, it freezes on me like it so likes to do, and after getting rid of it, and after glaring at it in an intimidating fashion, I finally decided it was simply not meant to be, and instead focused on cleaning up/out my hard drive.

However, I'm sneaky and clearly a genius (aside from being incompetent at dealing with the whole internet issue) and so I'm using Semagic in order to update LJ. Mmhmm~! You see what I did there? ;p

Now what is there to say? Not much. I went job hunting a little, dropped off a resume for two jobs at the library, thinking of applying for a third there because I like the sound of $26.75 per hour, you know? On the way back, my mother pointed out my appalling footwear (which I very readily agreed with as my shoes, which were dubbed by an awesome coworker long ago as the "rocker boots" are in bad, bad, bad shape) and proceeded to go shoe-shopping with my sister and I. I did not complain. The shoe love took its time, but it's come and I was giddy. :) And bought boots. And they're pointy. Which makes my feet look funny but they're cooooomfy and how many pointy-toed boots are actually comfy? :3 Not many in my experience.

Also: my hair, it has been cut. ;p It's been bugging me for a while because I have waaaay too many split ends. Sorry, had. And now they're gone! GONE! *flails head around*

This is my story. And this is the end. :3

Drive-by update [14/4/2008 - 2:47am]
[ mood | sleepy ]
[ music | Escape Key - The Girl that's Never Been ]

Quick entry before I get my nose back in the books (French exam tomorrow, Greek Literature on Wednesday eek!) because I haven't been around lately.

3 Hours Later:
And so I got distracted. Essay comments had to be checked over (for the upteenth time), spiders had to be chased after, emails to be sent, French to read up on, yada, yada, yada.

Anyway. One reason for my disappearance is school. It's there. Mock it for what it is because it's been giving me no end of headaches, just like it has for the past two-going-on-three years. I've been suspended from one faculty, have no idea if I can get into another, and am busy being frantic about exams and when I get answers back in the interim. Fun.

Another is the fact that I am an idiot and sprained my wrist the week before last. Or at least I think it's a sprain. I haven't exactly gotten it checked out, and won't till after exams if I ever do. It was stuck in a wrist brace for a while which is not fun and makes typing hard, and holding a mouse near impossible. I take it off often as keeping anything so stifling on for long periods of time is pretty blech but I don't know if that's the best idea. It still hurts when I move it (to open a door, for example), and it's been a long while now.

I have also forgotten what the other reasons might be. It's late. I can't think. I can just keep barreling on in foreign languages and hope everything ends up okay.

The boyfriend is not here. :( He went and roadtripped off into the sunset horizon with his boss this morning for work-related business. It is a weird feeling around the place without him around. I miss him. And he is not there to act as a buffer between me and the Ogre Who Tried to Explain to Me that Chicken Balls are Flat. -_-;;

I'm paranoid about getting up on time. If I do dare sleep, I will keep several different clocks aimed at my face at all times. That will commence now, as I can't think anymore and think this entry has gone on longer than it should anyway. (Also: I love this song.)

Kinda-sorta calm before the storm [2/4/2008 - 1:50am]
Lukewarm of a statement though that may be. ;p

Well, in any case I feel vaguely accomplished. Emails of academic purposes have been sent (not to the Registrar yet, I want to double-check some things first which I can't do until Quest is up, which won't be until tomorrow morning) and I've actually managed to complete the fic I needed to write for the April 1st challenge over at [info]takoyaoi_love (really, with a name like that, who couldn't love? ;p). Hello accomplishment? Sorta? ;p

Tomorrow's our last day of Tech Communications, which means we're doing our final presentation (currently, our slides look like kind of a mess, the background's messed up though I think that should fix itself easily enough) and also handing in our final report. Whoooo, a term-ful of frustration is nearly at an end! I don't hate my group as for the most part they do their parts decently and can be counted on to usually get things on or around the deadline of things (...that may or may not be a generous way of putting it, I'm not sure, I'm in a good mood tonight for some reason), they just... frustrate me. Or that could be me and my dislike of relying on other people. Shrug, shrug. ^^

I have a paragraph of user testing methods left to write up which won't take a minute and then I'm free to either sleep or play something. I'm banking on doing a little of both. :) It's like bliss. A little fake around the edges, but if you don't point them out, I won't either. >.>;;;

Ouran / Gen / Stamp of Approval [1/4/2008 - 11:36pm]
[ mood | busy ]
[ music | Iron and Wine - Jezebel ]

Title: Stamp of Approval
Author: [info]mirroredsakura
Fandom: Ouran High School Host Club
Rating: PG
Pairing/Characters: None / Kyouya; Tamaki
[info]takoyaoi_love Challenge: April 1st - Tamaki/Kyouya--generally he tries to humor Tamaki, but this is really pushing it.
Warnings: Well... perfectly well-behaved and friendly tentacles? (I know, I know, what's the fun in that?)

Summary: Usually Kyouya has to mediate some of the stranger things that Tamaki's brain can dream up. He's not exactly sure what to think about the King's new wriggly bits however...

Disclaimers: Well, if ever there were a call for someone to champion the rights of the Host Club running around with new tentacular devices attached to them, I'll be the first one to hide and wait till it's all over. That's pretty telling, I'd say.

Notes: Bit of a rush job as I finished most of it today, but for someone's who's languished over writing all of a 150 words for the past three weeks, I'm glad of a little accomplishment.

*GLEE* [31/3/2008 - 11:20am]
Okay, so, here I am getting started on my epic, awesome, incredible, etc., work ethic and the shininess of being able to get things done. And then I check my email because that's where my task list is written and lo and behold, I find in the whole of the one day I wasn't online, I've gone and received over 30 emails. Obviously this could not be ignored.

In the process, MSN signed on and I found out Vicki had messaged me yesterday with a STORY! And there were PICTURES! And, and, and... d'aww, I heart my baby sister.

She's too cute )

Find Out Which Disney Girl You Are!
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Alice

Have you fallen down the rabbit hole lately? Or played croquet with a deck of cards? Either way, you're so very much like Alice! Her wild imagination and constant ability to daydream got her in so much trouble - you've probably heard your mother or teacher lecture you about having your head in the clouds! Remember to stay grounded most of the time, however, because life can get away from you when you're always dreaming about someplace else!

So cute!! :D I didn't think I'd come up Alice though, but bam, here I am! :D Perhaps my adorable Disney purse gives me +9000 Alice in Wonderland points! ^__^ Quite the detailed quiz though, I liked it. And and and... perhaps because I haven't looked all that close, but who's the person who drew the picture? They look so cute and I want to see more! :3

In other news, the boyfriend and I went out for breakfast today! :D I'm in Waterloo for the weekend and breakfast was yummy and all prettily arranged and... stuff. And then the boyfriend couldn't finish his toast without my help. :( Not fair, he's supposed to be my bottomless pit, not the other way around! Clealry he's not allowed to force-feed me anything more today because I already ate one more piece of toast than him so bleuuugh. (...As can be noted, I am in a ridiculously childish mood this morning for some reason. Quite possibly 'cause I haven't actually woken up pre-7:00 in the morning for two days in a row since grade school, when I actually woke up early to put effort into my appearance everyday.)

And now, and now, and now... I'M GOING TO SEE HOW FAR I CAN GET IN THE MAGE GUILD! :D If the game doesn't keep freezing on me again, like it always seems to of late. :( Oh well! :D

Holy shit [25/3/2008 - 1:12am]
[ music | Makino Yuki - Onma Magni ]

Okay, this must be my day for spamming my journal, but this I so very much needed to post. So. Very. Much. Needed. To.

I never ran into the first Dead Fantasy I but I've seen it now, and I went "holy shit that was epic". And then I went on to part 2 which was just released at Anime Boston not too long ago, and went "oh holy shit some more.

...The synopsis is basically Dead or Alive chicks vs Final Fantasy chicks. Over the top, physically impossible, but when has either series ever paid much attention to such things? All in all? They beat the crap out of each other, and the models are so freaking awesome. @.@

The second part's out HERE and apparently there's more to come of even more epic win.

Hot. Like you wouldn't believe. Nngggghhh. ♥

All done by montyoum. Who, I might add, has more stuff apparently that I have a very large, pressing need to discover and subsequently watch.

Hee hee hee I was all too amused by this minigame when playing it with Cloud in the original FFVII, now I get to do it a) with Zack, b) over and over again and c) on my own terms/on familiar ground (read: my LJ). This of course amuses me to no end. <3

...Or at least it will if I find that it indeed works. It might not, scriptiness and all... *frowns*

EDIT: Hmm hmm, guess not.

Busy busy... [24/3/2008 - 7:04pm]
[ mood | busy ]
[ music | Jonathon Coulton - Baby Got Back ]

It seems that I'm always running into problems with each and every term of my academic career, and I guess this term wasn't allowed to go against that particular pattern... as of right now, I'm not able to sign up for courses for the next term because the next term does not appear at all on Quest. :\

I've had this problem before in my first year, but that was rectified early on thanks to one of the counselors. I'm just not sure if this time, it's that same problem again, or if it's like that because I've been officially kicked out of the math faculty and have not yet been picked up by the arts. It's a puzzle, that, and one I'm not sure who to contact about. ._.;; This I'm going to have to find out soon.

On other, yet related topics, my French oral test has been moved demain à partir de 16.30 ,au bureau ML338. Hmm hmm. So long's all I've got to do is read out the dialogue I've written. Fine and dandy. Now the test afterwards, that'll take a bit more studying. :] I've another paper due a couple days from now (Thursday) which I'm going to have to work on, and after that, a complete version of a manual, a final presentation, and miscellaneous extra parts for Tech Communications. From there, another paper for Criticism 2, a lab test in French (probably not altogether in that order, but main events are main events), and then exams. Chock-full of fun and games, definitely.

That out of the way, I've finally managed to watch L'Arc~en~Ciel's DRINK IT DOWN PV. Aaaaand... I like it. :3 It's a little ways removed from their usual style, but not in a bad way. That may or may not have anything to do with the fact that I have a large and very obvious like for vampires and an even more obvious like for a band that's gone and gotten themselves both killed and raised again as the damned sexy undead within the span of one shiny new song. What can I say? Removed so long from haruka over at Pieces, I've gotten shallow again or something. ;p What can I say? He generally gets my mind going in different directions it wouldn't otherwise go.

Speaking of Pieces, the random section needs work. o.o; I've come to that conclusion... I'm not exactly the presence I once was there, and my section has grown a little too big in order to reflect that, I guess. Of course, my usual strategy has oft been to lock a thread and delete the useless comments, but no one reads anything on the latter pages anyway, so that's a pretty stupid way to go about things. That's why I'm just up and deleting all the old stuff. Kinda makes me reminiscent though, 'cause some of them are from alllll the way back in 2004 and, well, who didn't have fun then? ^^
